ACC sues ex-OC Morshed, wife over illegal wealth in N'ganj

DHAKA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed two cases against dismissed officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonargaon Thana Morshed Alam and his wife Chand Sultana for allegedly acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income and providing false information in their wealth statements. 

ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations) Md Akhtar Hossain disclosed this during its regular media briefing at the commission's headquarters here. 

The two cases were filed with the commission's Integrated District Office in Narayanganj by Deputy Assistant Director Md Moshiur Rahman. 

According to the ACC, the first case was lodged against Morshed Alam for acquiring wealth worth about Taka 1,15,02,616 that is beyond his known sources of income and furnishing false information in the wealth statement submitted to the ACC. The allegations state that he accumulated this wealth through misuse of official power over his police career. 

The second case was filed against his wife Chand Sultana, naming Morshed Alam as co-accused. She is accused of acquiring assets worth Tk 3,86,84,199 beyond known income sources and providing false information in her wealth statement.

The ACC stated that Morshed Alam, through corruption and abuse of authority during his service, acquired these illegal assets and in connivance with his wife, registered and retained the properties in her name.

The two cases were lodged under sections 26(2) and 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
