Two terrorists arrested with firearms in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR, Dec 13, 2025 (BSS) - The army arrested two alleged terrorists and recovered five firearms and ammunition during a raid in Sadar upazila early this morning.
 
The arrested men are Alauddin alias Alauddin Barkat, 40, and Parvez Hossain, 35. 
 
The operation was carried out in the Bashikpur union, where security forces also recovered 16 cartridges along with the weapons.

According to army sources, the raid was conducted early Saturday at a rented house in Birahimpur village of the union under the leadership of Lieutenant Imtiaz Hossain of the Lakshmipur Sadar Army Camp. 

During the operation, Barkat and Parvez were arrested, while three other suspects managed to flee after opening fire.

The fleeing suspects were identified as Jobair Hossain Shanto, son of Shah Alam of Birahimpur village; Iqbal, son of Momtaz and Choto Yusuf of Kashipur village. Authorities said several cases are also pending against them, and efforts are underway to arrest the absconders.

Among the recovered items were a foreign-made revolver, four locally made LG firearms, 16 rounds of LG ammunition, and three mobile phones.

Army officials said Alauddin Barkat, son of deceased Sultan Ahmed of Birahimpur village, has 17 to 18 cases filed against him, including charges of murder, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and drug-related offenses. 

Parvez Hossain is the son of late Syed Ahmed of Samserabad village under Lakshmipur municipality.

Captain Md Rahat Khan of the Lakshmipur Army Camp said the raid was part of a routine operation against criminal and terrorist activities in the area. He added that a case will be filed against the arrested men under the Arms Act.
