Tk 26 lakh handed over to six families of road accident victims in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - Cheques totaling Tk 26 lakh have been handed over to six families affected by road accidents in Netrakona, whose members were killed or injured in the accidents.

The assistance was formally provided this afternoon through a joint initiative of the district administration and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Netrakona.

Netrakona Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Khondkar Mushfiqul Rahman presided over the programme.

The cheques were handed over as part of the government's humanitarian assistance programme aimed at supporting families who have lost relatives or suffered financial hardship due to road accidents and alleviating their distress.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner spoke with members of the affected families, enquired about their overall well-being and learned about their existing problems.

He said such humanitarian initiatives of the government to provide financial assistance and rehabilitation support to families affected by road accidents would continue in the future.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Wahiduzzaman, Nejarat Deputy Collector Md Al Imran, Assistant Director (Engineering) of BRTA Netrakona Circle GM Nadir Hossain, Motor Vehicle Inspector Md Ruhul Amin and members of the affected families were present.
