RAJSHAHI, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS)- Two establishments were fined Tk 60,000 in Puthia upazila of the district for various irregularities, including illegal packaging of edible oil and selling expired pesticides.
A team of the Rajshahi Divisional Office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted a monitoring drive at Dhopapara and Maipara markets in Puthia upazila on Sunday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
During the drive, Sweet Group Raika Food and Consumers at Dhopapara Bazar was fined Tk 40,000 for illegally packaging soybean and mustard oil.
Besides, Messrs Fahim Traders at Maipara Bazar was fined Tk 20,000 for selling expired pesticides.
A large quantity of fake labels was also seized during the drive.
The campaign was led by Ibrahim Hossain, deputy director of the Rajshahi Divisional Office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
The authorities said such drives will continue in the public interest.
