WASHINGTON, March 17, 2025 (BSS/TASS) - The death toll that was caused by a powerful storm in the United States has increased to 36 people, US President Donald Trump said.

"We are actively monitoring the severe tornadoes and storms that have impacted many States across the South and Midwest - 36 innocent lives have been lost, and many more devastated," Trump stated on his Truth Social network page.

"The National Guard have been deployed to Arkansas, and my Administration is ready to assist State and Local Officials, as they help their communities to try and recover from the damage," he added.

According to US media outlets, the natural calamity struck residents of the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.

According to earlier reports from the Associated Press, a sprawling storm system that crossed the United States, resulted in tornadoes, dust storms and more than 100 wildfires, encompassing the territory, which is home to more than 100 million people.
