DHAKA, March 23, 2024 (BSS) - Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak today said BNP has revealed its bankruptcy in politics through opposing India.
"BNP has isolated from people and they (BNP) are creating very silly issue for calling to boycott Indian products," he told a discussion organized by Bangladesh Chhatra League marking the 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The discussion was held in the auditorium of the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU), an official release said.
General Secretary of BCL Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, DU unit of Chhatra League Mazarul Kabir Shayan and its General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Saikat, among others, were present at the discussion with Bangladesh Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain in the chair.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University and Professor of Marketing Department of DU Mizanur Rahman also was present at the discussion.
Nanak said the anti-liberation forces killed Bangabandhu with most of his family members and they created a reign of terror to make Bangladesh a failed state.
"Ziaur Rahman and General Ershad rewarded the killers of Bangabandhu . . . Bangladesh emerged a lawless country as both Ziaur Rahman and Ershad patronized anti-liberation forces, he said.
The minister said under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh stands head high at the global stage but BNP is plotting to halt the ongoing development of the country.
Bangabandhu was vocal against repression and injustice, Nanak said adding from his childhood, Bangabandhu struggled for establishing rights of the people.
