DB to visit India to probe into Anar murder

DHAKA, May 25, 2024 (BSS) - Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police will visit India to investigate into the murder of Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar.

Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, chief of DB of DMP, disclosed the information in a press conference at DB Office in the capital's Minto Road.

He said a 4-member team of Indian police is currently investigating into the murder incident.

The DB chief said he along with several officers of the DB will leave Dhaka for India tonight or tomorrow dawn to investigate the murder incident.

On May 12, Anwarul Azim Anar went India for treatment purpose. His family couldn't communicate with him by any means two days after the lawmaker's reaching Kolkata.

Later, his family members informed the matter Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan. Subsequently, Bangladesh Police communicated with Indian Police.
Indian Police confirmed that Anar was murdered in Kolkata.
