DU Prof CR Abrar sworn in as new adviser

DHAKA, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, popularly known as CR Abrar, a retired Professor of Dhaka University's International Relations (IR) Department has sworn in as an adviser to the incumbent Interim Government.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to the new advisor at the Bangabhaban Durbar Hall at about 11am.

The newly inducted adviser also took the oath of secrecy there.

Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and advisors, leaders of political parties and other guests were present.

Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid conducted the brief ceremony here.

After reciting from the holy Quran, a one-minute silence was observed in honour of those who died during the anti-discrimination students' movement on the occasion.

Meanwhile, CR Abrar, also a migration expert, is expected to assume charge of the Ministry of Education, CA's press secretary Shafiqul Alam told journalists on Tuesday.

The government led by Nobel Laureate personality Prof Yunus assumed office on August 8 last year.
