Fire in Gabtali Slum brought under control

DHAKA, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - A devastating fire broke out at the Shahi Masjid Slum in the city's Gabtali area was brought under control in the early hours of today.

The fire originated in the slum around 03:00 am today and was brought under control at 04:36am with one hour and 15 minutes intense efforts, Md Anwarul Islam, media officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSDC) told BSS.

The fire gutted many shanties, shops and garages, he added.

Upon receiving information, four fire fighting units rushed to the scene. With eight fire engines from Kalyanpur, Mohammadpur, Mirpur, and Tejgaon fire stations doused the flame.

No causalities were reported in this fire incident.

The cause of the fire and extent of damage could not be ascertained immediately.
