Interim govt striving for democratic transition: Mahfuj

Dhaka, April 13, 2025 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam  said the interim government has been relentlessly working to ensure a democratic transition in Bangladesh aiming to pave the way for a progressive nation. 

He stated this during an interview with TRT World on the sidelines of the "Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025" in Türkiye on Saturday. 

Criticising the previous government, Mahfuj said the current administration is striving to recover the collapsed economy, resulted from Sheikh Hasina's tenure. Besides, the government is working to stabilize the unstable institutions through ensuring justice of the enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings that occurred under her rule, said a press release here today. 

Mahfuj further stated that the government's top priorities include institutional reforms, justice for killings, and an election for transition of democracy. 

The present government is also attaching utmost importance to ensuring transparency and accountability.
