CHATTOGRAM, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS)- Home Advisor Lieutenant General ( Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said holding of a fair election not only depends on law enforcement agencies, but on the people who have real power and none has the ability to obstruct polls when people are election-oriented.
“All state forces including the army, navy and air forces will be deployed in the upcoming national polls. It will be more positive if there is a consensus among the political parties,” he said while briefing journalists after a meeting at local circuit house conference room here today.
The meeting was arranged for exchanging views with the Deputy Commissioners of Chattogram Division, senior officials of the law enforcement agencies and different government organizations.
Regarding the meeting, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said officials gave important suggestions on different issues including upcoming national polls slated for February.
“I will discuss those issues at higher level of the government to find out their solutions,” he said.
The home adviser said the preparation of the law enforcement forces for coming elections is going well. Training has already begun, and the number of members has been increased.
Now about 30 thousand soldiers were deployed across the country and more soldiers would be on duty during the elections, he said.
He said government has taken elaborate preparations for celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja in the peaceful and festive manner.
“It is the responsibility all religions to cooperate to hold the religious programmes of the Hindu Community smoothly,” he said.
The Home Adviser also sought media cooperation in this regard saying “the flow of misinformation and rumors from a neighboring country have been diminishing gradually as our media successfully encountered those falsehood and displayed the true scenario”.
The Advisor said that he instructed all DCs and SPs to share accurate information with the media to prevent spread of rumors.
The Advisor said that the police have achieved significant success in recovering weapons. However, some weapons still could not be recovered particularly in Chattogram region due to its geographical difficulties and hilly trails. Drive to recover illegal arms will be intensified on ahead of election, he noted.
On the issue of the Myanmar border situation and drugs, the Home Affairs Advisor said that Myanmar boarder situation is now comparatively better as our law enforcers have been trying their best to keep the situation under control.
The Home Adviser said that it’s not security threat to us as Bangladesh is not facing any threat from the Rohingya population.
He said efforts are on to expedite their repatriation to Myanmar. Main objective is to repatriate them to their own country as soon as possible to resolve the issue promptly.
