Bodies of 16 Mirpur fire victims handed over to families

DHAKA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - The bodies of 16 victims who died in a recent fire at a ready-made garment (RMG) factory and chemical warehouse in Shialbari, Mirpur, have been handed over to their families on Sunday nighy.

Rupnagar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Muklesur Rahman confirmed that the bodies were released after DNA identification reports were received from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) forensic lab. 

He was accompanied by Sub-Inspector Mukhlesur Rahman Laskar during the handover.

The process began around 10:15pm on Sunday at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).


On behalf of the Dhaka District Commissioner's office, Engineer Md. Zakir Hossain from the Tejgaon Development Circle provided financial assistance of Tk 25,000 to each family for burial expenses. 


The support was funded by the Ministry of Disaster and Relief Management.
