DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said the government is well prepared to hold the forthcoming 13th national election in a free, fair, credible and peaceful manner.

"Our preparations for the election are very good. We have all sorts of preparations in place to hold the election in a free, fair, peaceful and credible manner," he said.

He made the remarks while replying to a query from journalists after the advisory council meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat here.

The law enforcement agencies are receiving election-related training to conduct the upcoming polls properly, he said, expressing hope that the training will be completed by January.

“Training is necessary for conducting the election smoothly,” he added.

The Home Adviser asked all concerned to make alternative arrangements to ensure that voting is not hampered due to electricity outages.

“This time, voting will continue from 7:30am to 4:30pm as the Election Commission has extended the polling period by one hour,” he said.
