DHAKA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - Panchagarh continues to reel under a sharp cold spell as the district recorded minimum temperatures in the 10-degree Celsius range for the fifth consecutive day, intensifying the sufferings of residents.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), Tetulia recorded the country's lowest temperature today at 10.4 degrees Celsius with 97 percent humidity and light fog covering the area. Sunshine appeared later but brought little relief.

BMD data show that Tetulia's minimum temperature has hovered around 10 degrees Celsius for five straight days, with forecasts indicating a further drop.

On Tuesday, Tetulia recorded the same temperature with 99 percent humidity, while the country's maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius was reported in Faridpur.

On Monday, the lowest temperature in Tetulia was 10.4 degrees Celsius with 84 percent humidity, followed by 10.5 degrees Celsius with 99 percent humidity on Sunday and 10.5 degrees Celsius with 94 percent humidity on Saturday.

People were seen burning straw and dry leaves on roadsides, in front of houses and at tea stalls to keep warm, while low-income earners faced the harshest conditions as they went out to work amid the biting cold.

The sharp contrast between cold mornings and comparatively warmer daytime temperatures is adding to the prolonged discomfort of locals.
