DHAKA, Dec 25, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said an unforgettable event is going to take place in the country's 55-year history with the return of Tarique Rahman.
He said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's return to the country is a historic and outstanding moment in the Bangladesh's democratic journey.
The senior BNP leader made the remarks while talking to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here today on the occasion of Tarique Rahman's arrival.
“Today, the entire country will see it. Insha Allah, we hope that we will be able to celebrate this moment as a historical moment,” Salahuddin said.
After a long struggle for democracy and the people’s voting rights, now a new hope has emerged among the people, he said.
“We have been struggling for the establishment of democracy and voting rights for 16 to 17 years. That democratic movement has come to an end through the student-mass uprising. Fascism has fallen, democracy has been unchained, and today we stand in a free atmosphere," he said.
Stating that the fascist forces and their local and foreign allies are still active, Salauddin said, "They will try to impede the Bangladesh's democratic transition and thwart the elections. But it will be a nightmare for them."
He said those who want to stop Bangladesh's democratic journey through violence and undemocratic means will be collectively resisted.
The BNP leader said after the democratic transition with the cooperation of the people, they want to build a truly democratic, non-discriminatory and well-governed state.
