DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3 (R) as a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal.

A warning message issued today by the BMD said the low-pressure area formed over the northwest Bay and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coast.

Under its influence, squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The BMD also advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
