DHAKA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today urged the students, teachers and authorities of Dhaka College to work together to restore the institution's past glory and academic excellence.
"Dhaka College was once the country's premier seat of learning and made significant contributions to producing political leaders, writers, intellectuals, journalists, administrators and enlightened citizens. Students and teachers must work together to revive that glorious heritage and excellence," he said.
The President made the remarks when a delegation of the Dhaka College Alumni Association, led by its President Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu and member Kamruzzaman Ratan, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon.
President's Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam told BSS during a briefing this afternoon.
During the meeting, the delegation congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as President and conveyed their best wishes to him.
They expressed hope that, in his capacity as the country's highest constitutional office-holder, the President would play a significant role in safeguarding the welfare of the people, democratic values, national unity and prosperity through his wisdom, experience, leadership and patriotism.
The delegation also invited the President to attend the 186th founding anniversary of the Dhaka College Alumni Association, scheduled to be held next November. The President expressed his interest in attending the programme.
The President's Military Secretary, Secretary, Press Secretary and senior officials were present at the meeting.
