SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 11, 2024 (BSS) - State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Mohibbur Rahman today said a project has been taken to install 6,793 lightning arrester rods (Bajjrapat Nirodhok Dondo) across the country.
 
"The number of deaths due to lightning has increased in the country in the last decade. The taken-project has been sent to the Planning Commission," he said, replying to a written question by Opposition Chief Whip in the Parliament Mujibul Haque Chunnu during the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) here.
 
Under the Rural Infrastructure Reform (Kabikha) Project and Rural Infrastructure Maintenance (Test Relief, TR) Program, a total of 335 lightning rods have been installed in 15 lightning-prone districts of the country in the last fiscal year 2021-22, Mohibbur said.
 
He said necessary steps have been taken to raise awareness against lighting deaths in the country.
