SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 18, 2024 (BSS) - Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan today said the government has a plan to construct a mini stadium named after Sheikh Russel in every upazila across the country.

"The government has a plan to construct a Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium at each upazila across the country", said the minister while responding to a star-marked question raised by treasury bench lawmaker Shafiul Alam Chowdhury of Moulvibazar-2 during question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad here.

As part of the planned construction, he said the construction works of mini stadium at 125 upazilas have already been completed under 'upazila level mini stadium construction' under first phase project in June, 2019.

The second phase construction works under the project are now remaining underway at 186 upazilas, Nazmul told parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Meanwhile, a review meeting on the land requisition for constructions of the third phase mini stadium at 126 upazilas under the project was held on November 5 in 2023, said the minister.

The formulation of DPP under the decision of the meeting is now under process, he added.
