'Upazila Migration Coordination Committee' to be formed to monitor migration issues 

DHAKA, May 14, 2024 (BSS) - The Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment has decided to constitute 'Upazila Migration Coordination Committee' at local level to maintain close relations between migration-seekers and recruiting agencies. 
 
Disclosing this at a review meeting today, state minister for expatriates welfare and overseas employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said the committee will be formed comprising Union Parishad chairman, Upazia Nirbahi Office and Upazila Parishad chairman to maintain communication between migrant-seekers and recruiting agencies at local level. 

The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of the decisions taken by the ministry earlier on manpower export and boosting the inflow of remittances, said the state minister. 

The 'Upazila Migration Coordination Committee' will work to increase awareness about safe immigration, take steps for capacity development, solve the problems of the migrant workers who will be cheated by agencies, reorganize the repatriate migrant workers, identify the gap between migration service recipients and providers and ensure the availability of necessary information for service providers and beneficiaries. 

Expatriates welfare and overseas employment ministry secretary Md Ruhul Amin, Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) director general Saleh Ahmad Mozaffar, Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) managing director Dr Mallik Anwar Hossain, Wage Earners' Welfare Board director general Md Hamidur Rahman and Probashi Kallayan Bank managing director Md Majibur Rahman were present, among others, at the meeting.
