DHAKA, Nov 16, 2024 (BSS) - Anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) early today rescued the infant (eight-month-old), abducted on Friday during a robbery at a house in Azimpur Medical Staff Quarters, from Mohammadpur Nabinagar Housing area in the capital.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted an overnight raid in the city's Mohammadpur Nabinagar Housing Area and rescued the baby early today, a spokesman of RAB's legal and media wing told BSS this noon.

A mastermind of the robbery and abduction identified as Mst Fatema Akhter Shapla, 27, wife of Md Selim Hossain, an inhabitant of Alamdanga of Chuadanga, has been arrested in this connection, he said.

Earlier on Friday a gang of robbers swooped into the house located in Medical Staff Quarters of Azimpur area and looted valuables, including cash from the house.

The miscreants also abducted the infant girl while fleeing with the booty.

Legal action in this connection is underway. Kidnapped victim Arisa Jannat Zaifa also handed over to her family, the RAB
