DHAKA, Nov 16, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today paid rich tributes to late politician Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, popularly known as "Majlum Jananeta (the leader of the downtrodden)" on his 48th death anniversary tomorrow.

“Maulana Bhasani will remain the source of inspiration for the rights of the helpless people, democracy, human rights and freedom and protection of sovereignty,” he said.

Tarique Rahman said, “Maulana Bhasani's immense patriotism for protecting the interests of the country and nation and his uncompromising stand against the enemies of democracy and humanity will inspire us for ages. We will be able to reach our desired goals only if we follow his ideals properly.”

He said, “Maulana Bhasani is an unforgettable name in our national history.”

The BNP acting chairman said Maulana Bhasani will be remembered forever as a guide for the liberation of the country.

Bhasani also had an unforgettable contribution in the struggle for freedom of the country, Tarique Rahman said, adding that Bhasani in his long political career, worked selflessly for the country and the people.

He sought eternal peace of the departed soul of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
