DHAKA, Nov 27, 2024 (BSS) – The government today approved a proposal for procurement of printing, binding, and supply of some 5,20,54,276 textbooks for distributing free of cost among class-VIII students for the academic year 2025.

Some 76 institutions in 102 lots would supply such quantity of textbooks among the students of class-VIII of both Bangla and English version, including general, Dakhil and technical students with a cost of around Taka 269.69 crore.

Following a proposal from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the approval came from the 14th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held today at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat today with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said that the day’s meeting approved this proposal so that the students get the textbooks as early as possible.
