DHAKA, Nov 28, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today said they gave a set of reform proposals to the interim government, which included holding elections after making minimum reforms quickly.
He said this while talking to journalists after a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus at the state guest house Jamuna on Thursday night, said a press release of Jamaat-e-Islami.
In response to a question, Dr Shafiqur said, "We have prepared more than 40 reform proposals. However, we have proposed reforms to the interim government on 10 issues."
Discussions were held with the Chief Adviser on staying united on national issues, Jamaat Ameer said, adding discussions were also held on issues that created concerns among people and there was extensive discussion on how to resolve the problems by staying united, he said.
He said that there will be differences in party, opinion and religion, it is natural. "But we should keep unity in view of national interest. Not only Iskcon, but also those who go against the national interest, we should take united action against them," he said.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said they also suggested keeping commodity prices within the purchasing capacity of the people.
They also talked about ensuring that no one can create an artificial crisis in the upcoming Ramadan, he said.
Jamaat Ameer was accompanied by Assistant Secretary General and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim and Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon.
