Jamaat amir calls for national unity

NATORE, Jan 3, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman today called for national unity to build a nation of equity and justice.

“We want no more repression, no fraudulence and no discrimination…we want unity to build a nation based on fairness”, he said.


Jamaat-e-Islami chief said this while addressing a workers’ conference of the district at Nawab Siraj-Ud-Dowla Govt. College ground here this morning.

Jamaat leader said, a large number of people, who were against extortion and terrorism, have sacrificed their life to build a discrimination free society. people of all ages had joined the July movement and the people of all strata also had extended their support to the movement. But the Awami League had unleashed repression on the patriotic leaders and activists of different political parties, he said.

Talking about the elections, the Jamaat leader said they want the present government to arrange next general election after completing all necessary reforms.

After the independence, the Jamaat chief said, all political parties which came to power time and again, have violated their commitment. 

All the political parties have hurt the people more or less and they unlashed boundless oppression on common messes, which crossed all limits in the last 15 years, he said.

After fall of the Awami League government, he said, Jamaat has asked its leaders and workers to show patience and stand beside the people. 

“It’s a matter of satisfaction that our workers stood beside the people and victims of atrocities during July movement,” Shafiq said adding his party wants to make the hands of the youths as the tools for building the country.

Jamaat leader said they want foreign friend but not any master. Bangladesh was not freed from Pakistani rule to become subordinate of others, he said.

Underlying the importance of communal harmony in the country the Jamaat leader said, “We never want disparity; rather we want unity among all religious communities.

Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant secretary general Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, central leader Principal Shahbuddin and Mobarrak Hossain also spoke on the occasion while district Jamaat Amir Prof. Dr Mir Nurul Islam was in the chair.
