AIR chief visits STOL Port Runway at Bogura, distributes warm clothes

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2025 (BSS) - Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan today inspected Short field Take Off & Landing (STOL Port) runway at Bogura and later distributed warm clothes.

A press release of the Directorate of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said this in the evening.

Speaking on the occasion, the air chief said this airport has become gradually an important part for both military and civil aviation operations, which would contribute significantly to the national interest.

Terming the Bogura Airport as an essential for CASEVAC and MEDEVAC missions from the remote areas of the region through where serious patients can be quickly evacuated for better treatment.

He said proper maintenance of this runway would also play an effective role in national security and any emergency situations.

The runway would serve as an alternate and emergency landing center for VVIP flights, which would play a role in ensuring safety in case of any situation arising in the North-West region, he hoped.

The air chief said during natural calamities like floods, aid and army relief operations, it would act as a strategic hub to facilitate rapid deployment of troops.

Later, the air chief along with Bangladesh Air Force Women's Welfare Association (BAFWA) president Saleha Khan distributed blankets among helpless and distressed people in Bogura as part of their humanitarian aid under service activities.

Senior officials of the Air Force, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, senior officers and other local dignitaries, among others, were present on the occasion.
