DHAKA, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today received allegations against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 40 others over the brutal killing of then Nayeb-e-Ameer of Laxmipur district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Fayez Ahmed in 2013.

Dr Fayez’s son Dr Hasanul Banna filed the allegations with the office of the ICT Chief Prosecutor this morning.

The other prominent accused in the allegations are- Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Major General (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan and Lieutenant Colonel (dismissed) Tarek Sayeed.

Family members of the victim alleged a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) led by Tarek Sayeed forced into the Lakshmipur house of Dr Fayez Ahmed at around 12.30 am on December 14, 2013.

“The intruders vandalized our house. They took my father to the rooftop and beat him with the butt of their rifles, especially hitting him on the face and back of his head. At one point, Tarek Sayeed shot on the right knee of my father. After that, they hung my father from the rooftop upside down and dropped him to make sure of his death,” Dr Hasanul Banna said in a written statement.

The killers later left Dr Fayez Ahmed’s body at Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

Family sources said Dr Fayez Ahmed was killed as part of then Awami League government’s conspiracy to quell the opposition movement marking the January 5, 2014, national election. They had resorted to abduction, torture, enforced disappearance and murder of the leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
