Govt. committed to ensure voting rights of people: Adviser

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 18, 2025 (BSS) - Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Dr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said that the present interim government was committed to ensure voting rights of people as they were deprived of their rights in the last three elections held during the tenure of ousted previous government. 

“Interim government is working relentlessly being imbued with the spirit of July uprising to bring back the voting rights of people through important reforms and to build a discrimination-free society “he said.

The adviser was addressing the Convocation-2025 of Chattogram Independent University (CIU) as the chief guest at the city’s Patenga Boat Club today morning. 

Kihak Sung, founder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Korean Industrial giant Youngone Corporation delivered his speech as the convocation speaker with CIU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mir Mohammad Nurul Absar in the chair.

Fouzul Kabir Khan, also the adviser to the ministry of Railway, Road Transport and Bridges Division Ministry said the interim government wants to hold a free and fair elections and eliminating all sorts of discrimination from the society.

 "You have completed your graduation. Remember, not all education is available from inside the classroom. Some lessons have to be learnt from the environment and nature. I think that your institution has taught you honesty and values ??along with studies,” he told the graduating students.

University Grants Commission Member Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nurun Akhtar, CIU’s Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT) Chairman Mohammad Zakaria Khan, Chairman of CIU Board of Trustees Lutfe M Ayub, among others, addressed the function.

A total of 2,189 students from various faculties of CIU were awarded degrees. Fourteen students were awarded the 'Top Achievers' award for outstanding achievements in their respective disciplines.
