SAVAR, Feb 27, 2025 (BSS) – The interim government has taken a month-long programme coinciding with the Ramadan to supply milk, eggs and meat at lower price to ordinary people from tomorrow, fisheries and livestock adviser Farida Akhter said today.

“The government has taken initiative to supply milk, eggs and meat at low price from tomorrow on the occasion of the Ramadan,” she said after inaugurating a five-storied Veterinary Public Health Laboratory here on the outskirts of the capital.

The adviser said milk, egg and meat would be available across the country including 25 points in the capital from tomorrow.

Akhter said since price of kitchen items was yet to come to a stable stage “we want to supply these items from our (government) farms so sellers could not sale these commodities at manipulated rates”.

Chaired by Director General of Livestock Department Dr M Abu Sufian, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) Dr Shakila Faruque and others concerned.

Later, the adviser inaugurated Shaheed Safwan gate of the BCS Livestock Academy and visited Total Mixed Ration (TMR) area at the complex.

MTR is a method of feeding dairy cattle ensuring a wide distribution of nutrients in uniform feed.
