29,075 workers provided with legal aid

Dhaka, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) - Legal aid has been provided to 29,075 workers with government expense under the National Legal Aid Services Organization, according to a report published on the organization's website.

A total of 29,075 workers have been provided with legal aid from 2009 to January 2025. Initially, legal services were offered at the district level to destitute people.

Later, the Dhaka and Chittagong Workers' Legal Aid Cells were established, which expanded the reach of the program.

Of the total 29,075 people who received assistance, 21,363 were provided legal advice. Legal aid initiatives were initiated in 4,412 cases, and 801 of these cases were successfully settled. 

In addition, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) initiatives were taken in 3,300 cases, with 1,913 cases being resolved through ADR.

This service is offered free of charge under the 'Legal Aid Act,' designed to assist financially disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals seeking justice in the country.
 
The National Legal Aid Organization operates under the Law and Justice Department of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.
