Army Chief distributes awards to Marine Drive Race winners

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) - Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today distributed awards among the winners of Marine Drive Race in Cox's Bazar. 

The 10th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army, in collaboration with the District Administration, organised the first ever "Marine Drive Race-2025" (cycling competition) under the theme "Ride for Glory". 

The event aimed to showcase the natural beauty of Cox's Bazar to the world and promote a sense of well-being at all levels, according to an ISPR release. 

A total of 400 local and foreign cyclists, including 26 women and 374 men, participated in this competition in six categories.

After the competition, the Army Chief distributed awards among the winners as the chief guest.

In this competition, Corporal Fatema Khatun (Bangladesh Army) and Mizanur Rahman became the best female and male winners in the professional (13-44 years) 110-km group respectively. 

Besides, Laura Turini (Brazil) and Syed Mubin secured the best female and male winners in the amateur (13-44 years) 55-km group respectively. 

In addition, the first 10 people in both the male and female categories (13-44 years) were awarded commemorative mementos.

The panel of judges from Bangladesh Cycling Federation provided overall support in organising this competition. 

Marine Drive Race-2025 has created enough enthusiasm and awareness to maintain the mental and physical well-being of the general public in addition to enhancing the positive image of Cox's Bazar as a tourist city.

The Chief of Army Staff also visited the Cox's Bazar area, and attended the "Corporate Night-2025" conference organised by Trust Bank as the chief guest and delivered a speech.
