DMP held 228 more crime suspects

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) - In the heightened raid across the Dhaka city aimed at 
maintaining the law and order, police arrested 228 more criminal suspects in the last 24 hours 
from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Thursday (February 27, 2025).

"Police arrested 228 people involved in various crimes by conducting 80 raids in different 
places of Dhaka Metropolitan areas in the last 24 hours," said a statement of the Dhaka 
Metropolitan Police (DMP).


Among the arrested, 15 were robbers, 24 professional active robbers, five extortionists, 12 
thieves, 27 identified drug dealers and 30 criminals wanted in various crimes.

During the period, six knives, two switch gears, a machete, a chapati, two axes, three pipes, a 
microbus, four mobile phones and Tk 62,290 in cash were seized from their possessions.


In addition, 37.645kg of marijuana, 238 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and 20.2 grams of 
heroin were seized.

In the last 24 hours, 49 cases were registered at different police stations of DMP.


As part of the move to ensure overall safety of the city dwellers, the DMP has strengthened 
security arrangements that include raids, patrol and intelligence surveillance centering check 
posts set up in the capital city since February 25.


According to the Crime Command and Control Center of the DMP, 550 patrol teams 
performed their duties in 50 police stations of the DMP.

 
Apart from these, 65 police check posts were operated by the DMP at various important and 
strategic locations to increase security in the metropolitan area. 


In order to maintain public safety and law and order, 14 patrol teams of CTTC, 12 of Anti-
Terrorism Unit (ATU) and 10 of RAB along with DMP are on duty in various crime-prone 
areas of the metropolis.

In addition, 20 check posts are operated by APBN, a specialized unit of the police, along 
with DMP.
