Sharmeen for forging unity to stop crimes

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) – Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen Soneya Murshid has underlined the need for unity like July uprising to stop torture on women, rape, kidnapping and robbery.
 
“Suddenly the level of various crimes including rape, kidnapping, robbery increased alarmingly across the country. Youths unity against those cries can reduce its spate,” she said.

Sharmeen was addressing a national convention on “What the state and citizens can do to prevent rape, kidnapping and robbery” at Jatiya Natyashala of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy here.

Cultural Cell of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organized the event with its convener Salauddin Jamil Sourav in the chair.

The adviser said, the nation got a new Bangladesh because the students and the masses were united against the oppression, injustice, and corruption of the fascist government.

Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Niti Sanjana, journalist Jannatul Bida and Tahmidul Jeff, Chhatra Shibir leader Abdul Muhaimin, Jatiya Chhatra Samaj leader Saiful Islam, Dhaka University Research Society general secretary Shahriar Nazim Simanto and Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP Masud Alam, spoke, among others.
