DB plans 'all-out action' against identified criminals

DHAKA, March 1, 2025 (BSS) - Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick 
today said they are set to go for "all-out action" against identified criminals to maintain law 
and order during the month of Ramadan.

"We are going into 'all-out action' against identified criminals in different areas of the 
metropolis as we have adopted a 'zero tolerance' policy against any crime that include big or 
small," he said.

He made the remarks at a press briefing about the DB's plan to maintain law and order 
situation during the holy month of Ramadan at the DMP Media Center here.

The DB of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is working tirelessly to ensure the safety of 
the city residents during this holy month, Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) of 
the DMP said.

From today, in addition to the ongoing activities of the DB, they are going to start a special 
operation ahead of Ramadan, he said.

"Our intelligence surveillance is being increased so that no one can go for sabotage," he said.

The Additional Police Commissioner said most of those involved in theft and robbery are 
between the ages of 15 and 30.

Many of them are juvenile gangs and they are getting involved in various crimes," he said.

Again, some fascist fallen political forces are fuelling them to get involve in criminal 
activities, Mallick said.

He said that the joint forces have increased their activities across the country to maintain law 
and order.

"The Bangladesh Army is playing an important role there. We are assisting them with various 
intelligence information and it will increase further in future,” he said.

He continued that the law and order situation in the metropolis is gradually improving. 

"Our job is to strengthen intelligence surveillance. We are giving importance to that issue. We 
hope that you will see a better situation in a few days," he said.

The DB chief called upon all to inform them if anyone does any crimes.

"If you have any information that can cause sabotage, help the DB by providing information. 
Necessary measures will be taken while keeping your identity secret," he said.

The DB chief said they are determined to arrest the identified criminals and expose them to 
justice.

"As part of that, we have already been able to arrest a significant number of robbers, and 
habitual criminals," he said.

Mallick stated that small crimes help big crimes to grow.

"Therefore, we have adopted a zero tolerance policy for any crime and criminal," he said.

However, DB's regular operations to prevent theft, robbery and robbery will continue, he 
said.

He also said, "DB's activities have been further accelerated so that the city dwellers can 
perform their prayers safely during the holy month of Ramadan. 

"I can confidently say that the city dwellers will be in a more secure and comfortable 
environment during this time. DB is by your side for any need," he said.

He called upon all to come forward along with the law enforcement agencies to keep the 
country safe.

Police Commissioner (Intelligence-North) Mohammad Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan, Joint Police 
Commissioner, (Cyber Security and Support Center-South) Syed Harun Or Rashid, and 
Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Muhammad Talebur 
Rahman, were present, among others.
