TANGAIL, March 1, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today inaugurated selling of milk, egg and meat at affordable prices on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative, organized by the Department of Livestock in Tangail, was launched at Janaseba Chattar, located next to the Deputy Commissioner's office.

This program has already been rolled out in 25 locations in Dhaka, as well as across all districts and several upazilas.

The program will run five days a week throughout Ramadan, offering beef at Tk 650 per kg, chicken at Tk 250 per kg, egg at Tk 114 per dozen, and cow's milk at Tk 80 per liter.

Speaking at the launch, the adviser said, "Our goal is to demonstrate that essential goods, including meat, milk, and egg, in high demand during Ramadan, can be sold at affordable prices."

She added that the areas selected for this initiative were chosen based on the presence of low-income communities and regions where people were notably involved in the July mass uprising.

The adviser also mentioned that this program, which has already been implemented in Dhaka and all districts, is being expanded to multiple upazilas, with plans to continue it throughout the year.

Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullah Al Mamun and District Fisheries and Animal Resources Officer Mostafizur Rahman were present.
