Chinese envoy calls on Foreign Secretary

DHAKA, Mar 3, 2025 (BSS) - Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today called on Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Both sides discussed the issues of mutual interests and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties, said a foreign ministry press release. 

They discussed, among others, education, skills development and healthcare cooperation.

The Foreign Secretary emphasized on enhancing collaboration between technical and vocational institutes and greater scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students.

The Ambassador highlighted the initiatives taken for deepening people-to-people contacts.

On the Rohingya issue, the Foreign Secretary appreciated China’s continued engagement and hoped for further assistance in facilitating a sustainable repatriation. 

Both sides expressed optimism about the future trajectory of Bangladesh-China relations.
