Police working tirelessly to protect lives, properties of city dwellers: DB chief

DHAKA, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of police Rezaul Karim Mallick tonight said they have been working tirelessly to ensure safety and security of the lives and properties of the city dwellers.

"As per instruction of the government, we have been working round the clock to ensure safety and security of the lives and properties of the city inhabitants," he said.

He was speaking to journalists at the PoIce Palaza, Gulshan-1 here after visiting shopping malls and markets under Gulshan division of police.

Mallick, also additional commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said he visited the shopping malls and markets in Gulshan and talked to leaders of shop owners associations, shop owners and buyers about their safety and security.

"They all have expressed satisfaction over the arrangements taken to ensure overall security," he said.

He has sought cooperation from all to maintain desired security measures so that people can do their shopping peacefully ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

The DB chief called upon the shop owners to dial the national emergency number - 999 and numbers of deputy commissioner and officers-in-charges (OCs) of the police stations and DB in case of facing any trouble from extortionists and terrorists.

"We have to help each other to make the city secured and enjoy the coming Eid with joy," he said.
