Justice Manik on 2-day remand in student killing case

DHAKA, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed retired judge of the Appellate Division of Supreme Court Justice AHM Shamsuddin 
Chowdhury Manik on a two-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of student Md Abu Jar Sheikh in the city's Gulshan area during the anti-discrimination student movement.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Monirul Islam passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand.
 
Md Abu Jar Sheikh got shot in the Pragati Swarini area under Gulshan Police Station on July 19 and was rushed to the hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on July 27 at Evercare Hospital in the capital. 

His mother filed the case on November 16, 2024.
 
Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik was detained from Zakiganj border area in Sylhet on August 24, 2024 while trying to flee to India.
