Three sent to jail in case over Gulshan house looting

DHAKA, March 5, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sent to jail three people arrested for vandalizing and looting a house of the former wife of Tanvir Imam, son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's political adviser HT Imam, in city’s Gulshan area on the night of March 4.

The three arrestees, who were sent to jail, are Jewel Khandakar, Shakil Khandaker, and Shakil Ahammed, the former caretaker of the house.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-
day remand each.

A mob of 25-30 people broke into the house at around 11.50pm in the name of conducting search and started looting the valuables. They beat two staff of the house.

Jewel Khandakar, Shakil Khandaker, and Shakil Ahammed were seen inciting the mob to plunder the house in the name of searching. Police and army team later reached the spot and detained the three. Police recovered two gold chains, one gold anklet and one gold ring from their possessions.

The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station.
