DHAKA, Mar 6, 2025 (BSS) - Labour and Employment Adviser Brig Gen (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain has said that the interim government is firmly committed to building a labor system consistent with international labor standards.

"The Ministry of Labour and Employment is already working to implement the instructions of Chief Adviser Prof Dr Yunus to make the labor law compatible with international standards aiming to improve the living standards of workers. Thus, the government will maintain the welfare and dignity of Bangladeshi workers," he said.

The adviser said these while addressing a discussion on labor issues with embassy officials of various countries at a city hotel on Wednesday night.

He said that the government has established a high-powered Labor Rights Reform Commission headed by a labor rights activist.

"The commission is expected to submit recommendations within this month, identifying the problems in the labor sector to ensure the fundamental rights of all workers in the formal and informal sectors and establishing social justice for the working people, in line with international standards," he added.
