Report in case against Hasina over death of DAD Rahim April 10

DHAKA, March 9, 2025 (BSS) - A court here has set April 10 for submitting probe report in a case lodged against 13 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and General (Retd) Aziz Ahmed, over the death of BDR deputy assistant director (DAD) Abdur Rahim, an accused in BDR carnage case, inside the jail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid passed the order on March 7, accepting the first information report (FIR) of the case.

Rahim's son Advocate Abdul Aziz filed the case on August 25 at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Akteruzzaman. The court, after recording the statement of the plaintiff, asked police to inform it whether any unnatural death (UD) case was filed in this connection.

The prime accused in the case are - then BDR chief Aziz Ahmed, former public prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kazal, Sheikh Hasina, former IG Prisons Ashraful Islam Khan, Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh, Noor E Alam Chowdhury Liton, Sheikh Selim, Sheikh Helal, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mirza Azam and Hasanul Haq Inu. Another 200 unnamed people were also made accused in the case.

The plaintiff alleged that his father was killed inside the jail on July 29, 2010, as part of a vicious plot as he refused to give false statement in the case.
