DHAKA, April 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Chief Prosecutor of International Crimes
Tribunal (ICT) Muhammad Tajul Islam today said trial of incidents of crimes
against humanity committed during July-August mass uprising will be held at
the tribunal.

"The ICT will hold the trial of genocides and crimes against humanity
committed during the July-August mass uprising. If the International Criminal
Court (ICC) wants to provide any technical support, we will take it," he said
while replying to a question of a newsman on the tribunal premises today.

Reiterating prosecution's commitment to bring the July-August criminals to
justice, the ICT chief prosecutor further said Bangladesh is very much able
and committed to hold the trial of crimes against humanity.

"Those crimes had taken place in Bangladesh, many accused are still in the
country, some are in neighboring countries, and witnesses are also here. So
it is very natural that the trial will be held in Bangladesh court. Trial of
any crime goes to ICC when any state is unable or not interested to hold
trial over that. Both these conditions are not applicable for Bangladesh," he
added.
