DHAKA, April 8, 2025 (BSS)- Railway Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today asked the railway authorities not to undertake unnecessary and expensive projects to avoid additional expenditure.

The adviser made this comment while addressing a view exchange meeting at Rail Bhaban for reviewing the rail operations and its overall activities on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitre and for ensuring smooth journey of the passengers on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The adviser said that there are shortage of railway locomotives and coaches and the government is trying to collect adequate engines and coaches. An ongoing project for collecting 200 coaches would be implemented within shortest possible time; he said adding that the existing Parbatipur Central Locomotive Workshop would be converted for assembling and repairing.

The adviser instructed the concerned authorities to formulate new projects in this regard without any delay and urged the authorities concerned to implement the projects   within one to two years.
  
“No extension of time and increase of expenses would be tolerated in future”, he added.
Fouzul Kabir instructed the railway online ticketing agency Shohoz.com to be more careful and sincere to resist the ticket blacker and the railway authority may reconsider the existing contract with them if they fail to resist effective measures in this regard. He also expressed the hope that the railway authority should have an own intelligence team to identify the ticket blacker who use to block the tickets by using different social media networks.

The adviser expressed his satisfaction over the peaceful and smooth Eid journey of this year and thanked all concerned for this. He also urged railway authorities to keep up this year’s success in future and to work sincerely to increase the income and to avoid unnecessary expenses.
 
Chaired by secretary to the Railway Ministry Md Fahimul Islam, the view exchange meeting was addressed, among others, by Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway Afzal Hossain and its senior officers.
