Amu, Salman, 8 others shown arrested in fresh mass uprising cases

DHAKA, April 9, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed arrested 10 individuals including former ministers Amir Hossain Amu, Dr Dipu Moni and Rashed Khan Menon in fresh cases lodged over crimes committed during the student-led July-August mass uprising.

The other people, who have been shown arrested, are- Salman F Rahman, Haji Mohammad Salim, Sadek Khan, Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, Shomi Kaiser, former inspectors general of police Shahidul Haque and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the orders as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases. The court subsequently sent them back to jail.

Of the 10, Amu, Salman, Dipu Moni, Shahidul Haque and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were shown arrested in a case filed with the Jatrabari Police Station over the killing of Sajedur Rahman Omar.

The court showed Menon arrested in Monir Hossain killing case filed with Shahbagh Police Station. Jakob, Shomi, and Sadek were shown arrested for attempted murder charges filed with Bhatara, Uttara East and Mohammadpur Police Stations, respectively.
