Mild heat wave sweeps over six districts

DHAKA, April 10, 2025 (BSS) - Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Sirajganj, Maulvibazar, Rangamati, Feni, Chattogram and Patuakhali and it may subside from some places.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) made the announcement this morning, stating that day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.

Rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna & Barishal divisions.

Besides, the Met office also reported that the well-marked low over Southwest Bay and adjoining West-central Bay moved northwards, weakened into a low pressure area and now lies over West-central Bay and adjoining areas at morning today. It is expected to move north-northeastwards and weaken gradually during next 24 hours.

A trough of low also lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, it added.

The Met office yesterday recorded the maximum temperature at 37.0 degrees Celsius both at Srimangal in Sylhet and Feni of Chattogram Divisions, while today's minimum temperature was 19.5 degrees Celsius at Tetulia under Rangpur Division.

Today's sunset in Dhaka will be at 06:18pm, while tomorrow's sunrise is expected at 05:41am.
