UK trade envoy meets commerce adviser

DHAKA, April 10, 2025 (BSS) - UK trade envoy to Bangladesh, Rt. Hon. the Baroness Rosie Winterton met Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat today.

During the meeting, they discussed issues related to bilateral interests, improvement in trade, commerce and investment.

Mentioning that the UK is one of the main export destinations for Bangladesh, Bashir said that the bilateral trade volume could be further expanded through removing the trade barriers, said a commerce ministry press release.

He urged the UK trade envoy to involve the private sector to further expand the bilateral trade.

UK trade envoy Rosie Winterton mentioned that the UK has been supporting Bangladesh in its various reforms   including   ongoing economic one.

She also expressed her interest to support in trade negotiation capacity building and framing trade policy as part of the supporting the ministry of commerce.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke and Commerce Secretary Mabubur Rahman were present.
