DHAKA, June 20, 2025 (BSS) - BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has called upon the international community to strengthen diplomatic pressure on Myanmar for the safe, dignified and voluntary repatriation of the Rohingya people who took shelter in Bangladesh.

“The international community must ensure that all parties play a responsible role in resolving this crisis,” he wrote in a Facebook post on the occasion of World Refugee Day today.

In the post, he expressed solidarity with millions of forcibly displaced people around the world.

“For Bangladesh, this is not just a global crisis, but our daily reality. Bangladesh's commitment to the humanitarian responsibility to host more than 1.4 million Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar has been globally commended,” he said.

However, this crisis remains as one of the world's most serious humanitarian crises and its burden is becoming increasingly unbearable for Bangladesh, he mentioned.

Tarique Rahman called upon the interim government to intensify diplomatic pressure on Myanmar for the safe, dignified and voluntary repatriation of the Rohingya.

He urged all to strengthen commitment to this peaceful and fair system to help each and every refugee to return to their home.
