CHATTOGRAM, July 15, 2025 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain has said that congenial atmosphere and beautiful learning environment could be brought back to the education system if we can make the campus free from criminalization.

“There is no party politics in the educational institutions across the world,” he said this while addressing a reception, unveiling cover and silver jubilee of the Islamic Studies and Culture department of Chattogram University at July Biplob Smity Hall of Chattogram Press Club here yesterday.

“We have to remove the political criminalization from the educational campus to maintain congenial environment and standard of education,” he said, adding that even after 54 years of independence, party politics prevails in our educational campuses including the universities.

Outside Bangladesh, only 25 percent foreign reference is acceptable for the thesis paper of doctoral degree but the ratio in Bangladesh is much more than the percentage, Dr Khalid said adding that as a result the research in our country is not up to the mark.

Reminiscing his student life memories at Chattogram University, the Religious adviser said that he has full-time connection with the university and was overwhelmed to meet his former friends and colleagues.

Chaired by the convener of ex-students association of the department Mohammad Shawkot Ali Nur, among others, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of the university Prof Dr Md Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin and retired chairman of the Islamic Studies and Culture department Prof Dr Shah Mohammad Sahafiq Ullah, addressed the function.
