Weeklong documentary screening inaugurated at film archive on July Uprising

DHAKA, July 15, 2025 (BSS) - A weeklong documentary screening has been inaugurated at the Bangladesh Film Archive to mark the anniversary of the July Mass Uprising.

Director General of the Bangladesh Film Archive Md. Abdul Jalil inaugurated documentary screening today, said a press release.

As part of the program, it said, documentaries on the July Mass Uprising will be screened for school and college students at the projection hall of the Film Archive till July 21.

On the opening day of the weeklong screening, three documentaries were shown: Shrabon Bidroho (Monsoon Rebellion), produced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Shomoyer Bir Shaheed Tanvir (Martyr Tanvir: Hero of the Time), produced by the Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI); and The Monsoon Revolution, produced by the Bangladesh Film Archive. 

Around 200 participants, including teachers and students from Global School and College, were present at the event.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Abdul Jalil said that the initiative to screen documentaries on the July Mass Uprising was taken to spread the spirit of the Uprising among the youth. 

He called upon the younger generation to embrace the ideals of the July Mass Uprising and work toward building a discrimination-free Bangladesh.
