Organizations for persons with disabilities meet with Education Adviser

DHAKA, July 15, 2025 (BSS) - A delegation comprising representatives from Kristi, Bangladesh Society for the Change and Advocacy Nexus (B-Scan), Sightsavers and Visually Impaired People's Society (VIPS) today met with Education Ministry Adviser Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar at the latter’s office here.

During the meeting, the delegation presented several proposals to ensure a quality integrated education system for students with disabilities, an official handout said.

They also proposed for placing the education system for the disabled under the Ministry of Education instead of the Ministry of Social Welfare.

The Education Adviser assured that their proposals would be considered accordingly.

The delegation included Sabrina Sultana, President of KRISTI, Iftekhar Mahmud, Vice-President, KRISTI, Salma Mahbub, General Secretary, Bangladesh Society for the Change and Advocacy Nexus (B-SCAN), Khandaker Sohel Rana, Advocacy and Communication Coordinator, Sightsavers and Jahangir Alam, Executive Member, Visually Impaired People's Society (VIPS). 

Senior officials of the Ministry of Education were present at the event.
